Associate Chief Nursing Officer/ CNO Development Program
Position Description
Job Summary: The Associate Chief Nursing Officer in the CNO Development Program will develop leadership, business management, and other skills necessary to advance to a CNO role in the organization under the leadership of the mentoring CNO. Corporate and facility training will ensure participants are fully knowledgeable in the area on Executive Clinical and Business Leadership Development which is based on a 80-10-10 model80% of growth is based on targeted work assignment, 10% is based on mentoring/coaching, and 10% is based on formal learning activities. Under general direction, the ACNO will direct assigned hospital nursing activities coincidental with defined hospital policies and objectives. In the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer, represents the Chief Nursing Officer and assumes responsibility for the entire scope of the Chief Nursing Officers responsibilities. The ACNO will participate fully in a mentor relationship with a facility CNO on formal development opportunities provided. The ACNO may also complete training modules with rotations through multidisciplinary departments including but not limited to Business Office, Health Information Management and Share and Centralized Services. The ACNO is transitory member of the Executive Leadership Team while in this role. General Responsibilities1. Provides administrative support for assigned functions of the Chief Nursing Officer 2. Complete an executive assessment tool prior to starting the program as a guide for their goals and executive development for their assigned facility. 3. Complete facility-training assignments and scheduled training seminars at HCA. 4. The CNO mentors role is to ensure all assigned work and assignments has a developmental component to it. Potential assignments may include but are not limited to: Patient Care, Education and Advocacy, Communication and Customer Satisfaction, Self-Development and Ethics. Experience:Minimum of 5 years leadership and management experience in nursing and hospital operations. Most recent 3 of the last 5 years of leadership must be in a direct leadership role in a hospital setting or direct patient care environment.
Qualifications/ Requirements:1. Minimum of a Bachelors of Science in Nursing with a preferred advanced degree in a health related field completed or with an understanding that enrollment into a Master's of a Health Science or Business program will be required before program completion 2. Current Registered Nurse License without restrictions 3. Ability and willingness to relocate with geographic flexibility. 4. Comfortable usage of Microsoft Office tools with excellent communication skills 5. Knowledge of professional nursing principals and practices, and managerial skills typically acquired through 5+ years of management or supervisory experience. |
